well i pulled myself up from out of the rut eventually like a broken, disenchanted soldier when they told him the war was over after eons of hiding, i’ve had enough with many hands helping me up a little shaky but i’m on my feet my voice busting out of my teeth trying to find a new direction, a new road with my map taken out of my hands i nearly lost sight of land i’ve been far from complacent to stand and stare vacantly at the place where i long to be all their desires, thoughts and opinions expressed so easily but i won’t stand at the back anymore i’ll push to the front, get up off the floor don’t wanna look, not gonna listen i’m gonna shout, i want to see ‘cause i can’t rely on myself to decide when i’ll get goin again i need a moment to brood and think everything through and summon up the strength to begin bursting to life via speakers and mic the only method i understand no longer confined to the back of my mind but letting out as much as i can the only method i understand

The River 03:12
I can remember how the water was so cold And the river was so dark and swollen up the banks struggled to hold We sent the bravest of us in While the rest of us watched from above and drank the danger in Long after midnight we would launch ourselves into the dark And seconds seemed like years until we'd plunge into the Murray's murky heart And somehow we survived And though we wished it wouldn't end We were all so bloody anxious to see what lay around the bend And on mornings we would rise Nurse our heads and turn our eyes To where the snowy mountains rise And where the rivers source resides And wonder if we'll ever get that high And as those last days of summer faded from green to gold I knew they would never fade from my memory As time stood still on the sunny shore The current kept its steady course Reminding us of moments yet to be

Wasted Time 03:06
i’ve been let down, i’ve been stranded on the roadside
a dusty cloud disappearing down the road i walked for miles trying to find something familiar lucky that i had you to ease the load and it took my wounds a little while to close the stitches weren’t strong enough to hold when i wandered through the towns i’d been before it just didn’t feel the same i’ve wasted time, trying to get my shit together except the wind kept blowing everything away and i couldn’t find all the pieces that were missing what hope had i they would ever be replaced? but i made it back to where i started from the dust had cleared, the aches and pains were gone when i wonder why it took me so long i have only me to blame afraid that i might have left it too late but it’s too early to tell i could just sit here waiting for the next train but i think it’s time i legged it there myself

when prehistoric man saw a face in the sand it ignited a light in his mind and the earth through his eyes was a sizeable prize so began the course of mankind when we discovered we could create fire with wood well the smoke started chokin the sky and we found that the stuff in the ground was combustible now its nearly been sucked dry we built boats out of trees that could travel the seas and we set sail into the unknown and our ships came ashore upon coasts unexplored that we boastfully claimed as our own but the natives dismayed at our decision to stay and the way that we used and abused them but they could never succeed against guns and disease another pitiful page in our history well we looked to the sky and we learnt how to fly and we landed as high as the moon but despite our successes and thirst for progress is our honeymoon over too soon? we've been raping the earth of everything that its worth so what happens when it all runs out? we can reverse what we've done, we can change the outcome instead of waiting around to find out how low will we go until we discover that we've strayed for too long on this track that we went too far and there's no going back but its not over, we've still got time to steer us straight before we lose our way
