well i pulled myself up from out of the rut eventually
like a broken, disenchanted soldier when they told him the war was over
after eons of hiding, i’ve had enough
with many hands helping me up
a little shaky but i’m on my feet
my voice busting out of my teeth
trying to find a new direction, a new road
with my map taken out of my hands
i nearly lost sight of land
i’ve been far from complacent to stand and stare vacantly at the place where i long to be
all their desires, thoughts and opinions expressed so easily
but i won’t stand at the back anymore
i’ll push to the front, get up off the floor
don’t wanna look, not gonna listen
i’m gonna shout, i want to see
‘cause i can’t rely on myself to decide when i’ll get goin again
i need a moment to brood and think everything through
and summon up the strength to begin
bursting to life via speakers and mic
the only method i understand
no longer confined to the back of my mind
but letting out as much as i can
the only method i understand
